what the press are saying about us!

Well, when PickaPlant launched on the 1st March 2008, we certainly didn't expect to create such a stir so soon. Here's a sample of what the media is saying about us.

The Sentinel - The North Midlands premier daily newspaper

traffic jam led to a virtual garden

Congestion is meant to be bad for business - but sitting in a traffic jam planted the seed of an idea for two Cheshire entrepreneurs. Now they have started a website aimed at helping gardening novices create impressive planting schemes at the click of a mouse.

PickaPlant, which was launched this month, lets visitors take a tour of a virtual garden. When customers spot the category of plant they are looking for - such as trees, bushes and shrubs, plants and flowers, bedding and rockery plants and grasses - they can click on it and choose the size and colour they want.

PickaPlant is the brainchild of Neil Robinson and Graham Sutherland, who were working together before deciding to set up the business last year.

A Way to Avoid the Garden Centres

PickaPlant have come up with an easy new way for gardeners to select all the plants they need and get them delivered straight to their gardens.

The new virtual gardening website boasts an eco-friendly delivery system, said to relieve the roads of an estimated carbon footprint of 120,000 tonnes of CO2 annually just from gardeners driving back and forth from garden centres.

Just a series of clicks your desired garden could be one step closer.

Make a garden on your computer

IF YOU'RE looking for the chance to create the garden of your dreams without visiting a garden centre, here's the answer...

An online PickaPlant service has just been launched aimed at people with little gardening experience, those who find it difficult to get to their local garden centre and those whodon't want to invest time and petrol travelling to buy plants.

The concept is simple - buyers follow easy steps to take an animated tour of the virtual garden, which separates plants into groups. You can choose plants by colour and/or height and then add them to the shopping basket from where they're delivered direct to your door. The delivery system is based on sustainable, eco-friendly packaging and if PickaPlant boxes are composted, they degrade in a matter of weeks.
